Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, split into drumettes and flats
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • For Buffalo Sauce: 1/2 cup Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce, 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • For Lemon Pepper Sauce: 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted, 1 tbsp lemon pepper seasoning, 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. This is crucial for crispiness.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the wings with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  3. Arrange the wings in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd; cook in batches if necessary.
  4. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Flip the wings halfway through the cooking time (around 10-12 minutes) to ensure even crisping.
  6. Continue air frying until the wings are golden brown and crispy.
  7. While the wings are cooking, prepare your desired sauce. For Buffalo sauce, whisk together the hot sauce and melted butter. For Lemon Pepper sauce, combine melted butter, lemon pepper seasoning, and lemon juice.
  8. Once cooked, toss the hot wings in your chosen sauce or serve them plain.
  9. For frozen wings, increase the cooking time by 5-10 minutes.

Notes

  • For extra crispy skin, you can add 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder to the dry seasoning mix.
  • If you are cooking a large batch, you can keep the cooked wings warm in a low oven (around 200°F or 95°C) while you cook the remaining batches.
  • Experiment with different seasonings and sauces to find your favorite flavor combinations.
