Make juicy, crispy shrimp fast in the air fryer. This easy recipe uses simple seasoning and cooks in under 15 minutes, perfect for a healthy weeknight meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (fresh or frozen, no thaw needed)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. If using frozen shrimp, rinse them briefly under cold water to separate any stuck pieces, then pat them very dry with paper towels. If using fresh shrimp, ensure they are fully thawed and patted completely dry.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 3 minutes.
  4. Place the seasoned shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary to maintain crispiness.
  5. Air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time. The shrimp are done when they turn pink and opaque.
  6. Remove the basket from the air fryer. Immediately sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the hot shrimp and toss gently to coat.
  7. Transfer the shrimp to a serving dish. Drizzle with lemon juice, if using, and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately as a low calorie shrimp dinner or appetizer.

Notes

  • For extra crispy results, spray the shrimp lightly with cooking spray before adding the Parmesan cheese in the final minute of cooking.
  • This recipe is a great alternative to traditional frying methods often associated with meal planning for weight loss programs.
  • You can substitute the Parmesan cheese with chili powder for a spicy air fryer shrimp variation.
