A comforting and fragrant mulled apple cider recipe, perfect for fall and winter gatherings or a cozy night in. This non-alcoholic beverage fills your home with the scent of holidays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups apple cider (or apple juice)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 4 whole allspice berries
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or brown sugar (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Combine apple cider, cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice berries, and orange slices in a large pot or slow cooker.
  2. If using a pot, bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer gently for at least 2 hours, or up to 4 hours, to allow flavors to meld.
  3. If using a slow cooker, set it to low and cook for 2 to 4 hours.
  4. Stir in maple syrup or brown sugar, if desired, during the last 30 minutes of simmering.
  5. Strain out the spices and orange slices before serving.
  6. Ladle the hot cider into mugs. Garnish with a fresh cinnamon stick or orange slice if desired.

Notes

  • For an adult beverage, you can add a splash of bourbon or rum to individual mugs before serving.
  • Ensure you use good quality apple cider for the best flavor.
  • This recipe is easily adaptable; feel free to adjust the spice quantities to your preference.
