Enjoy the cozy flavors of fall with these easy baked apple cider donuts, coated in a warm cinnamon-sugar topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup apple cider
  • For the Topping:
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a donut pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the apple cider, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. While the donuts are cooling, prepare the topping. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Stir well.
  10. Once the donuts are completely cool, dip each donut into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.

Notes

  • For a richer apple flavor, you can reduce the apple cider by 1 tablespoon and add 1 tablespoon of apple cider concentrate.
  • If you don’t have a donut pan, you can bake these as mini muffins. Adjust baking time as needed.
  • Store cooled donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
