Bake a moist and tender loaf of banana bread using overripe bananas. This easy one-bowl recipe is foolproof and packed with real banana flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the mashed bananas, melted butter, baking soda, salt, sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Stir in the flour until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. If using, fold in the chopped walnuts or chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  6. Bake for 50-65 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and sweetness.
  • For a moister bread, do not overmix the batter after adding the flour.
  • Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean.
  • Add nuts or chocolate chips for extra flavor and texture.
