Make these simple, elegant cranberry brie bites using flaky puff pastry. They are a perfect sweet and savory appetizer for holiday parties or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 ounces brie cheese, rind removed and cut into small cubes
  • 1/2 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a mini muffin tin.
  2. Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into 12 equal squares.
  3. Gently press each pastry square into the cups of the mini muffin tin, forming a small cup shape.
  4. Place one small cube of brie cheese into the bottom of each pastry cup.
  5. Top the brie with about 1/2 teaspoon of cranberry sauce. If using, sprinkle a few chopped pecans over the sauce.
  6. Brush the exposed edges of the puff pastry lightly with the beaten egg wash.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the brie cheese is melted and gooey.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the bites cool in the tin for 5 minutes before carefully transferring them to a serving plate. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For make-ahead appetizers, you can assemble the bites (without the egg wash) up to 4 hours ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Brush with egg wash and bake just before serving.
  • If you prefer crescent roll dough over puff pastry, use 1 can of refrigerated crescent rolls, separating them into triangles and pressing them into the muffin tin cups.
  • If you are planning your weekly meals, these quick cheese bites fit well into simple meal planning schedules.
