Create elegant, sweet and savory finger foods using flaky puff pastry, creamy goat cheese, and a drizzle of honey. These bites are simple to assemble and perfect for parties or wine nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 ounces soft goat cheese, chilled
  • 2 tablespoons honey, plus extra for drizzling
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly flour a clean surface. Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet. Cut the pastry into 12 equal squares.
  3. Place the pastry squares on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Place a small spoonful (about 1 teaspoon) of chilled goat cheese in the center of each square. Do not overfill.
  5. Fold each square diagonally to form a triangle, pressing the edges firmly to seal the cheese inside. You can crimp the edges with a fork for extra security.
  6. Brush the tops of the pastry triangles lightly with the beaten egg wash.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  8. Remove the bites from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet.
  9. Arrange the warm bites on a serving platter. Drizzle generously with the remaining honey.
  10. If using, sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves and chopped nuts immediately after drizzling. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, mix a few drops of hot sauce into the honey before drizzling.
  • You can prepare the pastry shapes and cheese filling ahead of time. Keep them chilled on the baking sheet until you are ready to bake. This recipe is a great alternative to complex meal planning for entertaining.
  • If you prefer a different cheese, creamy brie or cream cheese works well in this format.
