A simple and comforting hot toddy recipe, perfect for soothing a sore throat or warming up on a cold evening. This classic cocktail features whiskey, honey, lemon, and warm water.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz whiskey (bourbon or rye recommended)
  • 1/2 oz honey (or to taste)
  • 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 46 oz hot water
  • Cinnamon stick, for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon slice, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Warm your mug by filling it with hot water and letting it sit for a minute, then discard the water.
  2. Pour the whiskey into the warmed mug.
  3. Add the honey and fresh lemon juice to the mug.
  4. Fill the mug with hot water, leaving a little room at the top.
  5. Stir gently until the honey is dissolved.
  6. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a lemon slice, if desired.
  7. Sip slowly and enjoy.

Notes

  • For a sweeter drink, add more honey. For a tarter drink, add more lemon juice.
  • If you don’t have whiskey, you can substitute rum or brandy.
  • For an extra soothing spice, add a pinch of ground cinnamon or a few whole cloves to the mug.
  • You can also use hot tea (like chamomile or ginger tea) instead of plain hot water for a different flavor profile.
