Make a tender, juicy turkey breast quickly in your Instant Pot. This recipe is simple enough for weeknight dinners but perfect for holiday meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bone-in turkey breast (about 45 lbs)
  • 1 cup chicken broth or water
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Rub this seasoning mix all over the turkey breast.
  3. Pour the chicken broth or water into the bottom of your Instant Pot liner. Place the trivet inside.
  4. Carefully place the seasoned turkey breast on top of the trivet.
  5. Secure the lid on the Instant Pot and set the valve to sealing.
  6. Cook on High Pressure for 45 minutes. (Adjust time based on turkey size; allow 10 minutes per pound for bone-in).
  7. Once cooking is complete, allow a Natural Pressure Release for 15 minutes, then carefully quick release any remaining pressure.
  8. Remove the turkey breast and let it rest on a cutting board for 10 minutes before slicing.
  9. If you desire crispy skin, place the turkey under a preheated broiler for 3-5 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  10. Make gravy using the drippings left in the Instant Pot liner, if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can sear the turkey breast in the Instant Pot on the Sauté function with olive oil for 2-3 minutes per side before pressure cooking.
  • This method works well for meal planning, providing easy leftovers for sandwiches or salads.
  • If you are looking for other quick cooking methods, consider how sous-vide precision cooker techniques compare for tenderness.
