Create fun, festive Jack-o’-lantern Quesadillas for a kid-friendly Halloween meal. This recipe shows you how to cut tortillas to resemble a pumpkin face, perfect for a spooky dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or orange cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter or cooking oil

Instructions

  1. On one tortilla, use a small knife or cookie cutters to carefully cut out a jack-o’-lantern face (eyes, nose, and mouth).
  2. Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Place the uncut tortilla in the skillet.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the uncut tortilla.
  5. Place the tortilla with the cut-out face on top of the cheese.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the bottom tortilla is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
  7. Carefully flip the quesadilla and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted and visible through the cut-out face.
  8. Slide the quesadilla onto a cutting board, cut into wedges, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For easier cutting, you can lightly toast the tortilla before cutting the face.
  • Ensure the cheese melts enough to show through the cut-out shapes.
  • Serve with your favorite quesadilla toppings like salsa or sour cream.
