A classic homemade banana bread recipe with walnuts, perfect for using ripe bananas and enjoying a cozy breakfast.

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.
  3. Stir in the melted butter, baking soda, salt, sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  4. Fold in the flour until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Gently stir in the chopped walnuts.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For an extra moist loaf, ensure your bananas are very ripe, with plenty of brown spots.
  • You can substitute pecans for walnuts if desired.
  • This bread freezes well, making it great for meal planning.
