A simple recipe for a fragrant, spiced warm red wine punch, perfect for holiday gatherings or cozy evenings.

  • 1 bottle (750ml) dry red wine
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 star anise
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 1/4 cup honey or sugar, to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the red wine, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and cloves in a large pot or slow cooker.
  2. Gently heat the mixture over medium-low heat on the stovetop, or set your slow cooker to low. Do not let it boil, as this will evaporate the alcohol.
  3. Simmer for at least 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Sweeten with honey or sugar to your preference. Stir until dissolved.
  5. Taste and adjust spices or sweetness as needed.
  6. Serve warm in mugs, ensuring each serving gets a few orange slices and spices.

Notes

  • For a deeper flavor, you can add a few slices of apple to the pot.
  • If you prefer a stronger spice flavor, add more cloves or cinnamon sticks.
