Ingredients
Scale
1 (8 ounce) wheel of brie cheese
1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
2 small black olives, sliced (for eyes)
Optional: 2 tablespoons jam (such as raspberry or fig)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
If using jam, spread it evenly over the top of the brie wheel.
Unfold the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the puff pastry into thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide, using a knife or pizza cutter.
Place the brie wheel in the center of the prepared baking sheet.
Arrange the puff pastry strips over the brie to resemble mummy bandages, leaving a small space for the eyes. You can crisscross the strips or lay them parallel.
Use a few extra strips to create a mummy face shape.
Brush the puff pastry strips with the beaten egg wash for a golden finish.
Place the sliced olives in the designated eye area.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the brie is soft and melty.
Let it cool slightly before serving. Serve with crackers or bread slices.
Notes
For a spooky touch, you can use capers or small pieces of black olive for the mummy’s eyes.
Ensure the puff pastry is well-chilled before cutting to make it easier to work with.
Adjust baking time based on your oven and desired level of melted cheese.
