Easy and flavorful pulled pork sliders, perfect for game days and parties. This recipe features slow-cooked pork shoulder piled onto soft rolls.

  • 34 pound pork shoulder (Boston butt)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Slider buns
  • Optional toppings: coleslaw, pickles, extra BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Pat the pork shoulder dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  4. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  5. Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a Dutch oven or oven-safe pot.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
  7. Pour the BBQ sauce mixture over the pork shoulder.
  8. Cover the pot tightly with a lid or aluminum foil.
  9. Bake for 4-5 hours, or until the pork is fork-tender and easily shreds.
  10. Remove the pork from the pot and shred it using two forks.
  11. Return the shredded pork to the pot with the sauce and stir to combine.
  12. Serve the pulled pork on slider buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For a smoky flavor, use a good quality BBQ rub.
  • You can also make this in a slow cooker on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-6 hours.
  • Leftover pulled pork can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
