Make rich, chewy chocolate brownies with bright, fresh strawberry flavor and top them with a simple sweet glaze. This recipe focuses on clear steps for baking success.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (18.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, chopped
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon strawberry extract (optional, for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and eggs. Mix with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Gently fold in the chopped strawberries until they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  4. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs attached, not wet batter. This helps achieve a fudgy texture.
  6. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  7. Prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and strawberry extract (if using) until smooth. Add more milk, a drop at a time, if the glaze is too thick.
  8. Once the brownies are cool, drizzle or spread the glaze evenly over the top. Let the glaze set before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For the fudgiest texture, slightly underbake the brownies according to the toothpick test.
  • If using frozen strawberries, do not thaw them before adding them to the batter.
  • If you prefer a thicker glaze, use less milk. For a thinner glaze, add a few more drops of milk.
  • If you are interested in structured eating, consider how this recipe fits into a general meal planning approach.
