Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 bag (16 ounces) frozen tater tots
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain off any excess grease.
Stir in the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring, until heated through.
Pour the meat mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the meat mixture.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
If using, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add 1/2 cup of frozen peas or green beans to the meat mixture before baking.
Ensure the tater tots are in a single layer for maximum crispness.
This casserole pairs well with a simple green salad.
