Create a rich, decadent chocolate pie that tastes like a warm brownie. This easy fudge pie recipe uses simple pantry ingredients for a melt-in-your-mouth dessert perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, for extra richness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place your unbaked pie crust on a baking sheet.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, flour, cocoa powder, and salt until combined.
  3. Add the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients. Whisk until the batter is smooth. Do not overmix.
  4. If using, stir in the chocolate chips now.
  5. Pour the fudge pie batter carefully into the unbaked pie crust.
  6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. The edges should look set, but the center will still be slightly soft and gooey, similar to a warm brownie.
  7. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack. The center will firm up as it cools.
  8. Serve this hot fudge pie warm or at room temperature. It is best served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For a denser, more old-fashioned fudge pie texture, chill the pie for at least two hours before slicing.
  • If you want a crisp top, sprinkle a small amount of extra granulated sugar over the batter before baking.
  • This pie is excellent made ahead of time; cover and refrigerate for up to two days.
